Les leçons singulières, volet 2

Project

Les leçons singulières is a work located in two different public spaces. It includes two pieces; the first one is at Place Roy. This was the first public art commissioned by the City of Montreal since Expo 67. It was installed at the time the two sites were being redeveloped.

Located at Belvédère Léo-Ayotte, the installation is comprised of a sculpted map representing La Fontaine Park and six chairs arranged in a semi-circle along the railing. The components invite passers-by to stop for a moment to contemplate the beauty of the park landscape. Underneath each chair are simple everyday objects that recall park activities. They include running shoes, a book, a ball, a folded newspaper, a lunch bag and a pair of binoculars.
