Champlain Bridge

Protection action

By the early 1990s, thirty years after it was inaugurated, the bridge needed repairs. The firm of Simard-Beaudry was given the job of re-decking more than 750 metres of the bridge. The reinforced concrete deck was replaced with a steel deck for a greater load capacity and a longer life!

In the early 2000s, the bridge underwent a complete facelift that included refurbishing the girders, piers and structures, as well as cleaning and painting work.
